Hair Goal- This one might make you cry

It's a question we're regularly asked at the salon...speedy hair growth. We often reply with the same answer. Unfortunatly there's no true miracle, there's no special growth spray or grow bags that will instantly give you longer hair over night. We prefer to think you should embrace your growing locks, nuture and care for them, enjoy styling them and then when your hair reaches your desired length you will have a good healthy hair routine and you'll centainly appreciate it....

however....

We have recently been exploring these special 'speedy hair remedies' for those at the end of their teather, desperate for long locks. Over the next few weeks we'll be sharing these with you, for you to enjoy and maye try at your own leisure. We took this from rapidhomeremedies

Onion juice, supposedly ''smelly but effective remedy for hair growth''

Apparently onion juice contains sulphur which boosts the production of collagen tissues. These tissues assist in re growth of your hair. You will only need red onions, even shallots would do.

Method:
  • Take two to four onions.
  • Grate the onions and squeeze out the grate thing to get its juice.
  • Massage your scalp with this fresh onion juice.
  • Let it be there for, preferably one hour. If not, leave it there at least for 15 minutes.
  • Now wash off your hair with a mild shampoo and water.

Onion not only helps in re growth of hair but also lends your hair with a fabulous sheen.

Tip Tuesday- The Fishtail Plait

It seems many of us envy long hair, it's hard to achieve, takes patience and it's even hard to maintain. We often hear those long locked loves saying ' I just don't know what to do with it, I tend to just shove it up in a bun' Well ladies, look no further, because here we have (once practiced) a very beautful alternative to a plait...

The Fish Tail Plait...

Here's a quick tutorial, any questions just ask, or pop into the salon for some advice.

Step 1: Begin by separating the hair into two; A(left) & B(right)
Step 2: Take a small section from the back of B and bring it round to meet A
Step 3: Do the same on the other side, take a small section from the back of A and bring it round to meet B
(see below what it should look like)

 It will look like this

Repeat these steps being A to B and B to A, it's a long process but worth the wait as once you get to the end you're left with a beautiful fishtail plait.

Hypnotherapy made me complete again.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
Is there light at the end of the tunnel?.... the answer is YES, because OCD is treatable and curable.

This week is the OCD Week of Action, to encourage people who are suffering from the symptoms of OCD to seek help and support.
It’s to highlight OCD and to make aware the debilitating nightmare that one suffers every minute of their waking lives. The anxiety associated with OCD can make a person’s life an absolute misery, some people feel total despair which can trigger a person to self harm or worse, just so as they can feel a little relief from their suffering.

The charity OCD Action says the condition has two main features: obsessions and compulsions. Obsessions are involuntary thoughts, doubts, images or urges which cause anxiety, and compulsions are what you do to reduce the anxiety. Because carrying out a compulsion reduces anxiety, people with OCD get the urge to do it repeatedly.

This week’s blog is how Hypnotherapy can support people with OCD by tapping into their subconscious. OCD is fuelled by fear and terror so, in treating OCD, I shall be focusing on removing those feelings by de-conditioning the anxiety around not carrying out an OCD ritual.

Imagine this...
You wake up in the morning and the first thing you think of before your eyes are even open is ‘I feel dirty’, ‘I need to be clean or the germs will infect me’
You run the bath, but wait, you need to make sure the bath is clean and free from germs, so you continuously scrub the bath until you’re satisfied its clean, this can take up to half an hour or more…. Your stomach is churning as the anxiety is going up a notch, the bath is running, you have clean clothes, clean towels and everything is prepared ready for you when you come out. You get in the bath, fear is eating you up now because the germs are spreading and you need to be clean, so you start by washing your hair, your face, your neck and work your way down your body, meticulously scrubbing the germs of every part of you….. and then the anxiety becomes even more severe because all rational thought has gone from your mind, only fear, anxiety and loathing as you start the ritual all over again just in case you didn’t scrub hard enough to kill all those germs………. Finally, you get out of the bath, already your brain is shouting ‘Contamination’ … those involuntary thoughts doubts and uncontrollable urges are screaming at you … ..'get back in the bath’ but the bath water is now dirty, the bath tub is now dirty… what do you do….. the anxiety is almost too much to bare….so you empty the bath tub, run and get another clean towel…….. scrub the bath for another half hour and then run the water, this time it’s even hotter just to be sure the contamination is scrubbed away……Once in the bath, you can begin to feel clean again, just for a few minutes before it starts all over again…. And then you ask yourself….when does it end???

OCD behaviours can be expressed differently in different people, but the underlying mechanism is the same.

This was a real case..... The misery this person went through every day for over ten years was, and it's unimaginable, but there is light at the end of his tunnel.... by removing the fear of the unknown, the fear of being un-clean and the fear of becoming contaminated cured his anxiety..... And how did Hypnosis do this?

Hypnosis changed his way of thinking so that he believed he had control of his own OCD.

Hypnosis changed his way of thinking so that he believed he had control of his own OCD.
This is very significant, as many OCD sufferers feel that THEY are being controlled by OCD.
The case above worked because Hypnotherapy can help to make the distinction between what OCD sufferers feel is true...for example, ‘my hands have become contaminated’ yet what is actually true is that ‘his hands were clean and not contaminated’...so, under hypnosis, his subconscious was re-conditioned to consciously think that his hands were clean and can be kept clean. Through suggestibility, his thoughts and feelings on an unconscious level took control of his OCD. He believed in himself and no longer feared dirt, germs or becoming contaminated, therefore he no longer felt obsessed so the anxiety and the compulsion were no longer felt by this person.
I’m very pleased and delighted to say that this person leads a normal, fruitful life and has just had a baby boy!!!!

So please, take the first step, visit your GP or other professional, maybe speak to a friend but do seek help. Whatever treatment you chose, OCD is treatable and curable, it may take a long time and an awful lot of patients…. But remember…………There is always light at the end of the tunnel.

Your New Years Resolutions...

A New Year's resolution is a tradition in which a person makes a promise to do an act of self-improvement or something slightly nice, such as opening doors for people beginning from New Year's Day

Babylonians made promises to their gods at the start of each year that they would return borrowed objects and pay their debts. The Romans began each year by making promises to the god Janus, for whom the month of January is named. In the Medieval era, the knights took the "peacock vow" at the end of the Christmas season each year to re-affirm their commitment to chivalry.
At watch night services, many Christians prepare for the year ahead by praying and making these resolutions.

I can’t remember my first ever new year’s resolution, Can you? Yet I can always remember trying to make one or two. When I was young it was always the same, every year, I promised I would stop biting my nails, I think probably after the 8th year it worked...... I don’t think it was a resolution though, I think I just grew up and got bored with it!!
And that’s how it is for many of us, we want to stop smoking, loose a few pounds, earn more money, get a better job and so on, it’s all about improving our own lives yet we fail miserably.
So, I've done some research and allot of thinking, my thoughts turned to the actual event. Our New Year’s Resolution is always made on New Year’s Day, of course it is, that’s why it’s called A New year’s resolution, but, if you look deeper than that, thinking out of the box now, What if you started a resolution on the 1st of February? Or March or any month of the year... You see we are more likely to stick to our resolution on the first of February than on the first of January because once new years celebrations are over and were approaching the end of January, people who are struggling with their New year’s promise can willingly or unwittingly say to themselves, oh well, never mind I can always start again next year. So now you’re of the hook, you've got 11 months to prepare for your next knew Years resolution... BUT, what if you start your resolution on the first day of any month..... Your subconscious can no longer make the same excuse....... one month leads into the next so your resolution can continue into the next month and so on....and that’s where Hypnotherapy starts, if you really want to give up smoking, lose weight, grab some confidence or go for that job vacancy........ Then it starts now.... don’t wait for New Year’s Day 2016.

If you are contemplating using a Hypnotherapist for your ‘first of the Month’ Resolution, then make sure he/she is qualified, many Hypnotherapist claim they are, but they are not. Make sure they belong to a governing body... you as the client will be protected and so will the therapist. This is very important because the relationship you have with your Hypnotherapist is going to be a very honest, respectful and precious one. You will be divulging very personal information that you have been carrying around with you for a long time, you must be willing to trust your therapist, know that your therapist will never judge you and know that the treatment plan you both come up with will be the very best.

Don’t run before you can walk.....if a client came to me who wanted to lose weight, as a responsible therapist, I would be looking at the root cause of why that person feels he/she needs to loose weight, what caused their weight problem, how long has the weight issue been going on for and most importantly.... when did it become a problem, at what age was it first noticed as a problem and how did they feel at the time... The weight issue may just be the tip of the iceberg; layer by layer a good therapist will be able to seek out the fundamental reasoning behind you wanting to lose weight, by peeling of each section, your ultimate goal to loose weight and sustain the weight loss will succeed....... Of course, you may want to lose weight because your just not comfortable with the size that you are and all other aspects of your life is good, only you can be the judge of that.
Your treatment program is designed for you; it can be changed as you progress so stick with it!! Remember...the consequence of your treatment will have a profound effect on your life... for whatever treatment you are using hypnosis for, the end result is the same.... to change your life for the better.

Hypnosis works, whether you just want to build your confidence for that particular Job interview or driving exam, or, for something much deeper and longer lasting, Hypnosis really is the gateway to a much happier and brighter you.

Making waves

Having been glued to London fashion week we're getting excited about the lastest trends gliding off the catwalk this year. Want to reinvent your look for spring? After such a long winter we're all ready to refresh our locks and prep over selves for the summer ahead.

source blog.freepeople.com
It seems from Valentino to Chole, Anna Sui to Nicole Miller all are sporting the Boho Waves...which if anything gets us in the mood for summer!

source harpersbazaar.com

Got a bob? Don't threat, you can still create some great waves in those shorter locks.

Invest in a good honest serum or smoothing cream, espeically if your hair is notoriously wild or frizzy, this will allow you to not only keep your hair looking smooth and sleek but it will also keep it tamed and allow you to let your hair dry smooth and content. Products by Tigi are great, at HQ we love TIGI Bedhead Control Freak Serum.
