There's something hiding around every corner: Beauty Express

I was in the salon last week and could help noticing how my eyebrows had strangely disappeared, all the sun had bleach them blonde and what was usually a light brown was almost non-existent blonde bushes surrounding my face, so I was relieved to find Nina's Express Beauty menu could help me out. Within minutes Nina had slotted me in and my invisible brows were tinted and back accompanying the rest of my face...phew!

Growing Pains

We found a great illustration for all those looking to grow their short sleek style into something a little longer.
If you are considering the long haul hair growth HQ recommends;
1. Regular Cuts- if your going to grow it then make sure your locks are lushous by having a trim every 6-8 weeks. Cutting it won't make it grow faster but it will keep dead and split ends at bay, thus making your hair look healthier and appear longer.

2. Protection Spray- When using heat products always use a good quality heat protection spray. We recommend 'Philip Kingsley's Defence Conditioning Spray.
(We also adore Moroccan Oil to give dry hair moisture and a delicious smell)

3. Be adventurous along the way - To avoid the lengthy process of hair growth use the chart above to try some new styles whilst your growing.

4. Pop into the salon every step of the way!

He's Back!!!!!!

And no... we don't mean Jack Nicholson..(although with such lifelike painting we sometimes feel his presence!)

We're talking about Local Artist Ron Chadwick... having featured in a large number of high profile exhibitions over the years proud to host Ron's work back on the walls of HQ.

Whether it's iconic faces of Hitchcock or his thought provoking abstract work there is sure to be something that will catch your eye.

To view his work pop into the salon, or check out his online gallery here

What's in my make up bag this week?

MAC Prime and Prep.
Skin enhancer.
Neutralize.

This yellow based product completely eradicates those areas that are showing red pigments and is great for this time of the year with skin that is dehydrated from central heating or chapped from snuffly noses. You can use it either under your foundation or alone and is super hydrating too with a SPF 35. I find just using a touch around the nose can transform your look from tired and cold to fresh and flawless! It retails at £23.00 but a little goes a long way, come into The Powder Room for a try.

Tip Tuesday!

#Tip Tuesday - Perfect Brows

Brows are there to frame the face - if you've over plucked them, persevere and grow them first.  Get them professionally groomed at The Beauty Rooms HQ as your first port of call for some professional brow action, then keep those beauties looking fresh and fashion forward at home with the following routine

  • Comb:                        Combing the hairs upwards will reveal which hairs are falling outside the target shape of the eyebrows.
  • Trim:                          With a small and sharp pair of scissors, trim the hairs outside the shape over your eyebrows until you have a neat line at the top.
  • Tweeze:                     Use a slanted pair of tweezers to pluck any hairs that fall below the shape under your eyebrows; you can also pluck any hairs that look out of place around the eyebrows.
  • Fill:                             Using a small angled brush, fill in any gaps in your brows with a powder that matches closely the colour of your natural eyebrow hair. Tip: Brushing the powder upwards will give you more                                  realistic-looking eyebrows, as the powder will blend in better with the hairs.
  • Highlight:                 Outline the shape of your eyebrows (top and bottom) with a white eyeliner pencil. This will create a contrast that makes your eyebrows stand out and it will also give the illusion of a mini ‘eye lift.

Catman leaves no scent

As if there wasn't enough mystery surrounding the identity of Catman in Whitstable! We came in  this morning to find the lovely Audrey Hepburn under heat.
She won't give us any clues but this mysterious appearance has come after many around the town. Keep up with Catman on his facebook page and catch him if you can!

We'd love to thank him for filling the bare wall with a true legend.

In the Press- It's no fairy tale

We were proud to see one of our favourite products Mythic Oil Nourishing Shampoo be awarded by SELF magazine as their Editor’s Pick for Best Hydrating Shampoo in their 2013 Healthy Beauty Awards.
The hydrating shampoo stood out amongst the hundreds of other contenders leaving hair clean, soft, supple and brilliantly shiny.

Find out why one SELF tester declared “The softness lasted for days, and my hair never got greasy.”

The award winning shampoo retails at £15.00 but why not pop in for a wash and blow dry by one of our stylists and see the results for yourself!
